AXEL Becomes a Data Privacy Champion in Support of Data Privacy Day 2020

Global initiative supports the principle of all organizations being conscientious stewards of personal information.

Las Vegas, NV, January 28, 2020

AXEL announces its continued commitment to protecting consumer and data privacy by becoming a Data Privacy Champion, as part of the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) StaySafeOnline program. Data Privacy Day is part of a greater international campaign promoting awareness of the importance of privacy, highlighting easy ways to protect personal information and reminding organizations that privacy is good for business. This is a global initiative that started in the U.S. and Canada in 2008, as an extension of the Data Protection Day celebration in Europe, held annually on January 28.

AXEL joins this growing global effort among nonprofits, academic institutions, corporations, government entities, municipalities and individuals to raise awareness about this important movement at home, at work and school and in their communities. Through collaboration and unified, consistent messaging about privacy and protecting personal information, all Data Privacy Day Champions are working toward the common goal of improving individual and business consciousness toward data privacy and trust.

“Data privacy is really all about informed consent,” notes Ben Ow, President and CTO of AXEL. “Users need more than just the choice of whether or not to share their data – they need to know exactly what this data will be used for and how its application might affect them. For this reason, we proudly support the Data Privacy Day mission and advocate to ensure active measures are taken to safeguard data privacy for everyone.”

In North America, Data Privacy Day is officially led by the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA), a nonprofit, public-private partnership dedicated to promoting a safer, more secure and more trusted internet.
